and appreciation by clients of the importance of implementing systematic
management practices to control and benefit from their IP portfolios. At the same time, he was unable to step into
the breach for them without abandoning his core business as a commercial/IP
lawyer.

By the time of his induction
into the IP management profession when he joined a leading South African
diamond company as patents officer in 1987, Kevin had already practiced as a
chemical engineer in metallurgical processing, waste reclamation and recylcing
in the nuclear industry, and in process optimisation and production planning in
oil synthesis and refining.
In 1999 he joined the legal and
patent department at the Swiss HQ of the world’s largest food company where he
was charged with the management and structuring of an IP portfolio to serve the
strategic interests of a nutrition business then strongly on the acquisition
trail.
With his unique blend of
experience, gathered as both an IP owner and a professional adviser, Kevin sees
intellectual property issues from both sides. He is ideally placed to take your
